Is coaching a scam?

I set myself this blog posting challenge last Monday to write a post every day for three weeks.

Turns out it’s quite hard.

There’s lots of other stuff to do.

So today I’m going to fob you off with something short.

I have written the best part of another post about whether life coaching is a con. But I had to go to a birthday tea, and now it’s nine o clock and I'm full of cake. So I’m tired. And besides it was depressing researching this post. I was trying to figure out the basis of the life coaching is a scam thing. I fell down a weird, angry Mumsnet hole. Where about 20 people said they knew someone who was weird that does coaching. Ergo, coaching is a con. I’ll link it for you. For a laugh. So, um, yeah, that was not particularly fun. I’ll post the full thing tomorrow instead. When it’s finished and edited and properly put together.

courage, life coaching, be bold, be brave

Basically, what I’m saying is that I’m going to not post a post tonight. Apart from this stream of consciousness here. Which I’m posting in lieu of something substantial. And just because I made a promise to myself. And words is words.

I’ll leave you with a little quote which someone shared with me this evening though, which is this:

“He taught us to be bold and original and to let ourselves make mistakes… “You might as well fall flat on your face as lean over too far backwards”*.

I think this is the hardest thing to do. To take a step. To be bold. To screw things up before you get them right. And THAT is what coaching is for. So that you don’t have to walk a scary path alone. So that you have someone to hold your hand and make sure that when you stumble they can help you dust yourself down, and get back up and carry on. Like the trooper you are.

Hi,

I'm Jodie Lamb and I have been running Trevnee Coaching since early 2020. I've been an accredited life coach since 2008. I focus on Careers and Change. I work with people that are either thinking about changing things in their work and want a plan and support with acting on the plan; and people that are experiencing any kind of change in their lives and need help to make the most of it.

I write a weekly newsletter. I promise to only send you useful tips, strategies and occasional offers and never to spam you! I'd love it if you'd sign up.
